Travelling Film Festival
The Travelling Film Festival screens highlights of the Sydney Film
Festival in regional areas around Australia. The festival began touring
in 1974 with the encouragement of the Australia Council. Its objective
is to broaden the range of cinema screened in country and regional
areas around Australia. Over the last 30 years, the Sydney Travelling
Film Festival has visited some 50 towns in NSW, ACT, Victoria, South
Australia, Tasmania, Queensland and the Northern Territory with a
program of international features, shorts and documentaries.
The
2006 festival was launched by the NT Chief Minister Clare Martin on 3
February 2006 with a screening of the Oscar-nominated short film The Mysterious Geographic Explorations of Jasper Morello.
TRAVELLING FILM FESTIVAL A SUCCESS IN WOLLONGONG
The Sydney Travelling Film Festival opened on Friday night, 26 May, in Wollongong with the Australian short film The Big Day, introduced by the film’s director, Christine Olsen (writer-producer, Rabbit-Proof Fence). Another highlight of the Festival was the Danish film, Brothers, winner of the Audience Award for Best Feature at the 2005 Sydney Film Festival. The festivities concluded on Sunday night with complimentary wine and cheese for the Special Night: A Taste of France, with the French film double Look at Me (Cannes winner) and How Much Do You Love Me?, the recent sell-out hit from the French Film Festival.After visiting Wagga Wagga earlier this month with a sell-out opening night with Mad Hot Ballroom, preceded by a special performance from the Foxtrot Dance Studio, the TFF takes a break until after the 2006 Sydney Film Festival.
