Podcast: Interview Margot Nash

Festival Artistic Director Lynden Barber chats with Margot Nash about her new Australian feature Call Me Mum, starring Lynette Curran.

Call Me MumIn this moving drama constructed from interlinking monologues (penned by Kathleen Mary Fallon), a white Australian foster mother, Kate (Catherine McClements), is on a plane escorting Warren, her 18-year-old Torres Strait Islander foster son, to meet his sick birth mother Flo, in hospital in Brisbane. Flo hasn't seen Warren since she took him to the hospital when he was a toddler and the authorities took him away. However Kate's Brisbane-based parents are planning a different kind of reunion. Director Margot Nash makes smart use of the film's restricted spaces and the exceptional performances of Dayne Christian as Warren, and Vicki Saylor as Flo cut straight through to the emotions.
